Leah Willhite - Tracking Her First
Local singer songwriter Leah Willhite is putting the finishing touches on her album "Wasting Time". This is her first project with Chapman Recording and engineer Neil Simpson and Matt Peters. This talented artist has written a great collection of new songs. Look for a release date later this year.

"He Loves" - Jamie Groshart and the Cornerstone Worship Band.
What started out as a birthday gift thurned into a studio album for Jamie & Jason Groshart. The 6 song project was written and sung by Jamie with performances by Christy Hoagland, Ryan Smith, Sean Moore, Eric Kerwood and Mark Miller.

Blue Springs High School Choir
Two youth choirs in one week was on our schdeule recently. The Blue Springs High School Choir was in recording and shooting a
video for their Christmas program.

"SEEMS TO ME" - Rick Bacus
Rick Bacus, a musical feature for decades in the midwest, has released his latest album "SEEMS TO ME". Rick wrote, arranged and performed all of the material on the album. The songs are some of finest we've heard from a local artist in many years. Rick surrounded himself with great studio musicians to round out an "earthly rock solid sound". Madison Ward And The Mama Bear
Recently there was a buzz around the studio when Madison Ward and the Mama Bear arrived to track material for a new project. This soulfull family duo hail from Independence Missouri and have been working the coffeshop scene for years. Two guitars and two voices are the core for spinning tales of life in the Midwest. Producing the sessions was Jim Abbiss who worked with the group on their debut album "Skeleton Crew". Jim is know for his work with Adele and the Artic Monkeys. "Cest si Bon"" - Ala Mode
This fantastic jazz/blues duo writes and performs tunes that are not only fun but familiar. Great vocals and musicanship are at the center of their latest album "Cest si Bon". Out front on vocals is Jesica :Baby J" Poell with a style reminisent of crooners of the '30's and '40's. Backing Jesica on guitar is the classically trained Clayton Delong bringing a unique style of his own. Additional players on the new album are percussionist Miguel "Mambo", violinst Marvin Gruenbaum, bassist Steve Rigazzi and James Albright. For more ino vist the Ala Mode website . . . .

We just completed a new project for Kate Rose. This talented local singer songwriter brings a new and unquire twist to the material. Keep and eye out for Rose and her cd "Bittersweet". The project was produced by Leonard Caggianelli for Pure Rose Music. Rob Rebeck recorded and mixed the album.

Selena Gomez Sings in "Studio A"
While in town for her show at the Sprint Center pop icon Selena Gomez and her producer TEK were in Studio A tracking vocals for a new project. The session was handled by our own Matt Peters.

"Flawless Execution", the new album from Bleed The Victim has been released. This "melodic thrash metal: band from Topeka are excellent musicians. some of the tightest musicians we've had in the studio is some time. The band is Brett Johnson on drums, Damon Bradley on bass, Tyler Shuford on guitar and Alec Johnson on guitar and vocals. Rob Rebeck engineered the album with mastering by Neil Simpson. These guys are just starting to make waves.

Rick Gibson Sings the "Junkyard" Blues
"Junkyard Son" is Rick Gibson's latest blues album. Rick has written a collection of memorable songs telling the story of the people of the Ozarks. The album was written and produced by Rick were he also played the guitars tracks along with Rick Huyett on bass, Joel Shipley on drums and Dave Patmore on vocals. This is Rick's 2nd album with Rob Rebeck and Chapman Recording and it was mastered by Neil Simpson.

A Wedding Song - Mark Burris
Local businessman Mark Burris has been recording in Studio A with our staff studio musicians. The project was a song for his daughters upcoming wedding. Mark wanted to do something very special for the event and this was the just the thing. Rick Huyett on bass, Andy Hambleton on drums, Kevin Rogers on guitar and Joe Miquleon on electric piano. The session was engineered by Rob Rebeck.

Just Passing Through Band
This high energy country honky-tonk dance band has been recording booking demos with our Matt Peters in Studio A. The band is based in Eastern Kansas and features some of the most experienced showmen in the region. They are well known for delivering quality entertainment for festivals, fairs, parties and clubs. Band members include Jay Dee Weers - vocals, Noel Young - vocals, Trent Crissell - guitars & vocals, Jody Jackson - pedal steel, Justin Kistner - fiddle, Russ Wolf - bass & vocals and Mark Paquette - drums. THULANI "Bata Musoro"
Thulani has released a new album, "Bata Musoro" on the Imestum Music BMI label. The response to this new cd has been fantastic. In his homeland the single "NHASI" has been #1 on the music tv channel Zimbabwe. A second track, "No Contender", is currenly on the Zim Top Hits of StarFM Zimbabwe. Look for more from this multi talented writer, producer and artist!

Kansas City's own sucessful songwriter, performer and producer Kathryn Lorenzen tracked a new original song for Gas Can, the annual creativity conference of AAF-KC (the Ad Club). Written to the theme of the conference, "Match Can Boom", this inspirational rocker was used as the show opener for this gathering of hundreds of creative leaders in Kansas City's marketing communications community. Kathryn brought together the core of Chapman Recording's studio musicians including Kevin Rogers on guitar, James Albright on bass, Joe Micquelon on keyboard and Evan Bell on drums, with vocals by Kathryn and Tub McTighe. Angela Hagenbach Session Photos
Jazz great Angela Haganbach has started her new album in Studio B with engineer Rob Rebeck. Featured on the album are some of the cities best jazz musicians including trumpeter Lonnie McFadden. Angela has been named US State Department Cultural Jazz Ambassador for several years. She has toured with Terry Clark and was praised by Johnny Mandel for her "perfect taste and sound". Classic Local Holiday Song
If you live in the Kansas City area then you've probably heard "Christmas In Kansas City". Each year it gets plenty of airplay from Thanksgiving Day to Christmas Day. The song was written and performed by local musician Brad Millison along with Bruce Sidener/Guitar, Mark Sidener/Drums, Kerry Layton/Bass, Jack Mulligan/Keyboards, Gary Helm/Percussion, Greg Briggs/Sax and Karen Johnson/Bk Vocals The song has been released with 2 different picture sleeves and red vinyl. Michael Portley & Students of David CD Released
Pastor, gospel artist and composer Michael Portley has completed and released his independent album along with his group "Students of David". Kansas City Boys & Girls Choir
In keeping with the hoiliday season we hosted a session with the Kansas City Boys and Kansas City Girls Choir. This talented group of young students is directed by Ah'Lee E. Robinson (Executive Director). The group will be preforming throughout the community this December and January.

Rex Pryor has released his latest cd "Gotta Move On". Rex worked with Rob Rebeck over several months to created this classic album. Watch for more from this talented songwriter performer.

Jim Earle has been working on his latest album with producer Brett Francis and engineer George Hunt in Studio A. Jim is a seasoned country/americana songwriter and recording artsit with true Nashville expierence. Vocalist and producer Ben Gulley has been in working with Rob Rebeck on his new project "IN BETWEEN. Ben is the 2009 winner of the Metropolitan Opera's National Council District and Regional competitions. This outstanding tenor has been very successful with concert work, film work national and international touring. Ben just completed his apprenticeship with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. Look for this fantastic new cd later this year which includes some of the best songs and performances anywhere. This is one of the best R & B/Pop albums to come out of Kansas City in many years.

We have recorded a "live" album with the remarkable jazz vocalist Kathleen Holeman. The concert was held at the Corbin theatre in Liberty Missouri. Kathleen's band includes some of the finest musicians in the region . The project is co-produced by Jim Ramel. Watch for the new cd later this fall.

Update. . . Congratulations to Sara "The Pitch - Critics Choice: Best KC Newcommer 2015". Country songwriter Sara Morgan has released her latest CD "EASY TO DREAM". This new batch of songs included some of the areas finest sesssion players were handled by staff engineer George Hunt. Fresh from a show with music legend Loretta Lynn, Sara has been busy with recording and a new video project. See her youtube video here

Singer songwriter Joey Curtin has been recording a new group of songs with engineer Rob Rebeck. Joeys style crosses several musical lines with touches of american, bluegrass, country, jazz and newage. She also received the ASCAP PLUS AWARDS 2006 - 2011 for her songs and concerts.

Christian singer and songwriter Becky Frey has finished her recording with Chapman Recording. Becky brings a fresh new style to the studio. Besides being a very good songwriter she has a wonderful voice. She is also proving to be a good producer with her choice of songs, performances and studio musicians. Engineering is Rob Rebeck. Shelly West & David Frizzell / Country Duo
Grammy nominee and CMA "Duo Of Year" David Frizzel and Shelly west doing tracks with Chapman Recording while
out on tour. The group has dozens of CMA and Grammy awards and nomination.

The areas best song and dance group, The Jolly Rogers Band, are putting the final touches on their latest project. Producer and engineer George Hunt has been working hard in the studio to capture this group of happy pirates. Look for their next album later this summer..

Engineer George Hunt have been busy working in Studio A with the multi-talented X-FACTOR vocalist Rylie Brown. Rylie has been in recording vocal demos for the nationally watched talent show. Keep and eye out for her rising star and visist her webesite for updates and more infor information

Contemporary Christian band GRANDEUR has finished and released their new album "Telling The World". The project was produced by Robbie Cairs and engineered by Rob Rebeck. The music is a blend of rock and R & B. What their website for current infomation.

A TRIBUTE TO LEE MORGAN - The Robert Magris Quintet
This new project comes from some of the finest jazz musicians from around the world. Brandon Lee (trumpet), Logan Richardson (alto sax), Roberto Magris (piano), Elisa Pruett (accoustic bass), Albert "Tootie" Heath (drums). Project coordinator / executive producer is Paul Collins. Tracking, editing and mixing completed by Chapman Recording & Mastering engineer George Hunt. This is the third project finished by George Hunt for Mr. Magris and Mr. Collins.

Friednship Baptist Church - Remote Recording
When FBC Music Minister Chris Rembert decided to record the churches next cd project live and on location he called Chapman Recording. The 2 night event required 46+ tracks and an elaborate interface with the house sound system. Our 64 channel Pro Tools remote rig was just the thing to pull off this large project. The cd is being produced by Chris Collier with assistance from keyboardist Arron Mayberry. The sessions featured many area singers and musicians and an excellent 7 member band. Look for this up lifiting cd later this year.

Kathryn Lorenzen Records New Album
Local legendary songwriter and recording artist Kathryn Lorenzen has been in the studio with Rob Rebeck tracking her new album. The latest additions were grand piano tracks performed by Kelly Hunt. The cd is scheduled to be released in the spring.

Jazz Great Roberto Magris and his Trio Records For J-Mood Records
International jazz musician Roberto Magris has been in Studio A with engineer Geroge Hunt recording a cd. The trio project is produced by Paul Collins for J-Mood Records. Show above L-R; Elisa Pruett (bass), Roberto Magris (piano), Albert "Tootie" Heath (drums) and Paul Collins (producer).

Dewayne Woods Reaches #5 On Billboard Gospel Charts
We're excited about the work we've been doing with national gospel artist Dewayne Woods for Zomba Records.
Dewayne is one of the most talented gospel artists to come along in a long time. Some of the tracks recorded
where written by PJ Morton, all session were engineered by Rob Rebeck. The album went on to garner four
nominations of the "STELLAR GOLD" awards with "LET GO" reaching #5 on Billboards gospel charts

Grammy Nominee, Jazz Great & Blues Star
Grammy nominee and Warner Brothers recording artist Iris Dement tracks a vocal for the "Boys and Girls Club of Kansas
City". Also involved with the project were Rainmakers Bob Walkenhorst, jazz great Kevin Mahogany and blues artist Kelly Hunt.

Recording Legend Visits Studio
International recording artist Marilyn Maye graced Studio C recently to work on a project for author and producer Richard Ward Fatherley. The session was part of a project for Richard's up coming book about the radio industry and singing radio ID's. Marilyn was a session singer in the mid 1950's, recording many sessions at Damon Studios. The same studio where engineer Chuck Chapman started his career in the early 1970's. Both worked for the recording pioneer Victor Damon.

Buck Owens Tribute - Iris Dement & Jann Browne
CMA "Best New Artist" nominee Jann Browne requested Iris Dement to do harmony vocal on her new cd "Buckin' Around".
The project features a long list of national recording artists including Owens' steel player Jay Dee Maness, Desert Rose
Bands' Bill Bryson and Merle Haggards' Scott Loss. Plan B Records contacted Chapman Recording to handle the Midwest
recording side of this unique project.

Iris Dement & Teddy Thompson / Vox Session
International recording artist Teddy Thompson was in recording vocals and piano tracks with Grammy nominee Iris
Dement. The vintage acoustic track features Teddy's lead vocal, dobro, cello, Iris's vocal and grand piano track. The

Granner & Bledsoe
The duo of Nathan Granner and Beau Bledsoe have been mixing tracks in Studio B with freelance engineer
Sam Platt. The album is being mastered by Chapman Recording and due out in the fall to support a national tour.

Birthday Session / The Girls Can Sing
Birthday girl Rachel Stang and friends - Eden Kreigbaum, Grace Ryan, Anna Redmond and Lily Riederer recorded
several karaoke songs in Studio B with staff engineer Evan Clark. A good time was had by all!

Austin Based Gary Clark Jr. Cuts Soundtrack
With the "LENEXA ONE MILE" movie being shot in Kansas City the films producers decided to cut music for the film
here as well. The very talent Gary Clark Jr. Band was in Studio B with Chapman Recording engineer Robert Rebeck.
Gary Clark Jr. is nationally know for his guitar chops and earthly style. The band flew in from Austin to recording and
perform on camera along with William Baldwin, Jennifer Hall (also on the recording sessions), Michael Beach, Chris Klein,
Austin Nichols, the son of the late John Ritter Jason Ritter, Michael Rooker, Josh Stewart and Paul Wesley. The project is
being directed by Jason Wiles of NBC's THIRD WATCH fame.

Star102 CD / Habitat For Humanity
Chapman Recording is proud to be part of radio station Star102's Christmas CD project. Some of the artists
involved in STARS OF THE SEASON are Amy Grant, Elton John, Diana Krall, Lee Ann Womack and Boyz To Men.
Our song, "Christmas in Kansas", is the only local cut and was written and performed by Brad Millison. Some
of the great musicians who played on the track are Bruce and Mark Sidener, Bob Blount, and Jack Mulligan.

Jazz Great Queen Bey / Narration For Kansas Tourism
Shown above in Studio B with engineer/producer Chuck Chapman is jazz great Queen Bey. The Queen was
in house recording a track for "A Quest For Freedom", a production by First Generation Video for the Kansas State of Tourism.

Land and Hildebrand / Ballads, Babies and barbecue
Christian recording artists Paul Land and Ray Hildebrand have been camped out in Studio B tracking a new
album, "Ballads, Babies and barbecue", for Corner Lot Productions. This is the groups 5th album with Chuck
Chapman and CRS. The project is being produced by Lisa Eaton, Curt Bartlett, Brett Francis and features some
of the regions greatest session players, drums - Doug Dimmel, guitar - Curt Bartlett, piano - Sam Beckett and
bass - Rob Eaton. Nashville session singer Mark Stephens was flown in to round out the backing vocal group of
Lisa Eaton, Sam Beckett and Donna Thomas. L & H are well known for their "Phrogs, Pharaoh's & Phorgiveness"

Pop Group Dream / MTV & AOL Tour
Pop group DREAM arrived at 6am recently for a project in Studio B. With hours to spare before a Sandstone
concert the group recorded tracks for an AOL promotion as well as 20 interviews with radio stations all over
the country. The project was produced by Medialink and engineered by Chuck Chapman.

Let Freedom Sing
Regional and local recording artists came together to create "Let Freedom Sing, A Tribute To The Heroes Of
September 11th, 2001", a new cd to raise funds for the New York and Washington attacks. The project was
produced by KSHB NBC TV 41 and included Ida McBeth, Connie Dover, Brody Buster, Angela Hagangbach,
Bukeka & Jerome Johnson, Bobby Watson, Buck O'Neil, Kim Lord, David Basse, Danny Cox, The Shennagins
and The Kansas City Choral.

JEWEL / A Night Without Armor
Our Studio B was host to recording artist JEWEL. Brought in by New York based Harper Collins Publishing
for a book on tape, she also tracked several guitar pieces for transitions between chapters. The entire album
was recording at Chapman Recording and sessions were produced by Rick Harris. "A NIGHT WITHOUT ARMOR"
became a New York Times Best Seller and won the 1999 Audie Award for Best Poetry recording.

Portfolio Released / Kathryn Lorenzen
Regional songwriter and recording artist Kathryn Lorenzen has released her new album "Portfolio" on the Flora's
Radio Music Label. The cd was co-produced by Chad Watson of Janis Ian fame and engineered by Chuck Chapman.
The project features all original material performed by the best players in the region. Just some of the great
musicians include Jeff Pevaron electric guitar (David Crosby's guitar player), Kelly Hunt on piano, Pat Tomek,
(Rainmakers) on drums, Allan Rich, (Charlie Rich's son) on background vocals, George Pearce on mandolin and
Mike Matheny on flugelhorn.

Freddie Hart / Country Legend
Grammy winner and CMA "Artist of The Year" two years running recorded several country and gospel projects with
Chuck Chapman and Chapman Recording. Their production of "Rumor Has It" topped the Billboard country charts at #68 and
received great reviews throughout the industry.
Session Player / Carol Kaye
Pictured above is one of the greatest session players of all time, bass player Carol Kaye. Chapman Recording
had the pleasure of working with Carol for a major Kansas City project. Carol has played bass on hits for the Beach
Boys, Sonny and Cher, The Righteous Brothers, Dean Martin, Sam Cooke, The Isley Brothers and thousand more.

James Wright & Friends / The Start Of Something Big
Vocalist James Wright has started his new cd project assisted by producer and bassist James Albright,
piano player Fred Albers, organist Ken Lavern, drummer Keith Mallory and trumpeter Stan Kessler. The project
covers a collection of Broadway type tunes with a spiritual message. Rob Rebeck is doing the engineering.
